Ductile fracture → plastic deformation
Brittle fracture → cleavage of interatomic bonds
- The yield strength of metals decreases with rising temperature and vice-versa
- Fracture strength is insensitive to temperature

- Alloy A is ductile at high temperatures but brittle at low temperatures
- The critical temperature of this change is known as the Ductile-Brittle Transition Temperature (DBTT)
