Work-Energy Principle

The Principle of Work and Energy states that the total work done by all forces acting on a particle between two positions equals the change in its kinetic energy.
$T_1+\sum U_{1\to 2}=T_2$

Work and energy are scalar quantities, thus using this principle we can skip finding vector components and acceleration when unnecessary. This principle extends to rigid bodies by adding rotational kinetic energy.
