Sequences

• A sequence is an infinite string of numbers
  • Denoted as $(a_n)$ or $(a_n{)}_{n=1}^{\infty }$
  • Sequences can be added together or multiplied by a scalar
• We say that $(a_n)$ is convergent and $\underset{n\to \infty }{\lim }{a}_n=L$ if “the sequence gets really close to L when n gets really big”
  • $L$ is the limit of the sequence
  • Otherwise, the sequence is divergent
