What is this Unit About?

Developing your understanding of engineering in society

• All engineering degrees are approved by Engineers Australia
• You must meet the stage 1 requirements to qualify as an engineer
  • Engineering Australia Stage 1 Competency Standards

Workshops

• The workshop recording will only be available on Friday after the practical classes
• Most weeks include talks by Program Chairs of the engineering majors
  • All topics are on lecture slides

Practical Classes

• Only first 2 hours are facilitated
• 3rd hour is recommended to be used for self-study
  • Do not schedule work for this time
  • W3, 5 and 6 use full lesson time for completing Design Challenges
• No practical class during W8 (Good Friday)

Assessments

1. Individual Assessments (25%)
2. Individual Reflections (30%)
3. Group Assignment (35%)
4. Participation (10%)

Uni Workload

• Expected to spend 10 hours of work on this unit
  • 6 hours at home
